چکیده
Seawater intrusion represents a high risk for the water supply, agriculture and industry activities in lower Seybouse region of North-Eastern Algeria. In order to analyze this risk, three-dimensional model was developed using MODFLOW MT3DMS codes predict seawater coastal aquifer. The application indicates that groundwater withdrawals result continuous decrease level an increase chloride concentration. Moreover, salt front could progress by 300 2500 m land. These results show necessity adequate measures protection Numerical predictions 2045, considering 20%, fairly significant levels, up -6 with respect mean sea level, Cl- concentrations about 10 km inland.

Numerical Modelling of Seawater Intrusion in Manukan Island's Aquifer
A numerical model SEAWAT-2000 was developed to investigate the current seawater intrusion status in the low lying area of Manukan Island. SEAWAT-2000 output indicated that there is about 1.4% of freshwater and seawater mixing ratio at sea level in low lying area of Manukan Island illustrates the seawater intrusion problem. Upconing process simulated by SEAWAT-2000 showed the current status of s...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Seawater Intrusion in Coastal Aquifer Using Finite Volume Unstructured Mesh Method
Saltwater intrusion widely occurs in coastal areas. Therefore, dissolved salts are the most common contaminants in freshwater in coastal aquifers and this contamination arises from saltwater invasion, caused primarily by human activities due to heavy urbanization. For investigation of the methods of increasing storage of fresh ground water and prevention of seawater encroachment, predicting the...

Due to groundwater overextraction, during the recent years, Malekan plain aquifer has been faced to a risk of increasing salination. The groundwater flow model of the plain was designed, invesitagion of groundwater flow regime and precise hydraulic parameters estimation, utilizing the various method such as geological surveys, tomography methods, hydrochemical analysis and simulation of aquife...
متن کاملDerivation of a Sharp-Diffuse Interfaces Model for Seawater Intrusion in a Free Aquifer. Numerical Simulations
We derive a new model for seawater intrusion phenomena in free aquifers. It combines the efficiency of the sharp interface approach with the physical realism of the diffuse interface one. More precisely, a phase field is used as an intermediate variable for including the exchanges between the characteristic layers of the aquifer (salt water, fresh water, unsaturated zone). The threedimensional ...
متن کاملSimulation of Seawater Intrusion in Coastal Confined Aquifer Using a Point Collocation Method Based Meshfree Model
Seawater intrusion caused by groundwater over-exploitation from coastal aquifers poses a severe problem in many regions. Formulation of proper pumping strategy using a simulation model can assure sustainable supply of fresh water from the coastal aquifers. The focus of the present study is on the development of a numerical model based on Meshfree (MFree) method to study the seawater intrusion p...
